What Little Thing Can I Do Every Day ?

I’m often asked “Koen, what can I do every day that won’t take too long and will help my fitness ?

Without doubt, for general well-being and fitness, I would say, definitely work on your flexibility!

As we get older, your muscles getting tighter, your joints are getting a little bit more rusty, so you need to start working on your flexibility.

You need to keep moving, that’s a given as your muscles have to stay strong.

The more you sit down and not do anything, the harder it becomes.

So, flexibility, moving around, and also just be a little bit more aware of your own body and what you can and can’t do.

If you’re struggling with certain things, let’s say you have a bad knee, you can still do lots of exercises that don’t involve a lot of high impact on your knee.

For example, I had a client who broke a leg but was still able to maintain her exercise routine by sitting on a Swiss ball, taking any load-bearing off the leg.

You work around it, not through it – stressing an already compromised joint or muscle is a certain recipe for disaster.

You don’t want to make it worse, so you have to use different methods.

Depending on your situation, cycling can be a good exercise for example, which is low impact, but it strengthens the knee joint.

Also, things like using stretch bands; keep stretching – it feels good too!
